The ancient summer residence of the Grand Duke Stephen of Lorraine, San Giuliano Terme is a lovingly restored 18th-century mansion immersed in the greenery of the Parco degli Ulivi. This luxury hotel and spa, set amid the gentle hills of Tuscany, and graced by the gentle winds of the nearby Mediterranean, now offers every amenity for those seeking the utmost well-being. The spa has a Wellness center, Thermal Center, facilities for beauty care and relaxation, as well as a series of swimming pools and spa waters circuits. The hotel has 80 rooms and suites.
Situated in the heart of France's Beaujolais country is the Chateau de Bagnols - a 13th century castle tucked away in the Gold Stone region (named for the sand-colored stone used in its buildings). A recent addition to the Rocco Forte brand, Chateau de Bagnols is the only managed property in the collection. The chateau is also a member of Leading Small Hotels of the World. Its owner, Lady Hamlyn, purchased the property in 1987 and spent four years restoring the chateau and its gardens before opening it to the public in 1992. The chateau closes annually for maintenance and restoration; the reopening date this year is set for March 26.
ACCOMMODATIONS Exquisite guest rooms transport visitors back to the 17th and 18th centuries; each of the property's 21 rooms and suites is individually decorated with antique furnishings. Four-poster beds with luxurious draping and original wall paintings accent several rooms. The chateau building houses 12 rooms, each named after former owners and guests of the castle. Nine additional rooms, called "residences," are located across the main section of the chateau in the former stables. Some of the residences have private terraces.
